What Are the Benefits of Using Outdoor LED Lights?
LEDs have been around for some time now, and we could be talking about their benefits for hours. But to help you get a grip on why it is beneficial to choose them for your outdoors, we have managed to prepare this shortlist of the most important advantages:
Energy-Efficiency and Cost-Effectiveness
LED (light-emitting diodes) light is a popular bulb choice for outdoor lights for a very simple reason- LED options are the most energy-efficient choice on the market. They need significantly less energy to work correctly because they don't lose as much of it during the process as other types of lighting. LED outdoor lighting reduces energy usage, which is also reflected in smaller electricity bills. Plus, it makes it a more eco-friendly solution, especially as most LED lights available on the market don't contain any mercury. What's more, their incredibly long lifespan and high-quality light also mean less money spent on maintenance or replacements. They simply don't burn out or suddenly fail as easily as other types of light bulbs and are much more resistant to physical damage (since they are not contained in glass), which is especially advantageous in the case of lighting for outdoors. Additionally, they start to fade gradually first before they stop working altogether.
There's no need to stop having fun just because it's getting dark. With decorative yet practical LED outdoor lights, you can keep the garden party going long into the night. Some of our garden lights come with a dimming function, which means you can have more brightness when you need it for barbecuing and eating, or create a soft, warm glow when you want to wind down with a glass of wine. Add more functionality to your garden and increase your property's appeal with some strategically placed lighting.
Outdoor lights are a great way to provide extra safety and security for your family home or your business premises. When you light up the exterior space, you help to eliminate all kinds of danger, such as tripping hazards around your property, and to deter potential burglars. LED lights can come with a dimmable feature, as well as a panel control that will allow you to program the system to turn the lights on and off without your assistance.
While other light bulbs may have problems with illuminating spaces in lower temperatures (or even break during the winter), LED lights aren't affected by any conditions. What's more, contrary to fluorescent lights that require a higher voltage to start in colder temperature, LEDs are even more efficient when the temperature decreases. So, if you don't live in a place where there's summer all year round, LEDs may take a lot of worries off your plate.
Colour Temperature and CRI
LEDs come in a variety of types, offering different colour temperatures for different needs. Whether you prefer warm, yellowish, relaxed light or something cooler, even sharp, you can easily find it among LEDs available on the market. CRI, on the other hand, refers to the ability of artificial light to mimic the natural light and allow you to see things exactly as they are (in terms of shades and colours). LEDs have very decent CRI ratings compared to other types of light, so you don't have to worry about the photos you will be taking at your next garden party or how your business will look after dark.
What Kind of Garden Lights Are Available?
At Simple Lighting, we sell a wide range of outdoor and garden lights that blend functionality with aesthetic appeal. Outdoor garden lighting doesn't just have to be functional; it can also be beautiful. After all, the looks add significantly to the overall impression and atmosphere. Our outdoor light selection includes decorative solutions that will enhance gardens of all styles and decors and bring your outdoor areas to life even after dark.
We stock a vast collection of various outdoor lights, including garden lights, decking lights, wall lights, and many more. No matter what design or lighting installation you have in mind, we have something to suit every taste and purpose.
Here are some of the options we have available:
LED Decking Lights
LED decking lights are highly popular among our clients, mainly because of their versatility. They can be applied to various LED outdoor lighting projects, as they are specially designed to be installed in the pattern of your choosing, whatever it may be. But they are not only convenient - they can add style to every space while illuminating your patio and decking areas and enable you to spend more quality time outdoors. Plus, they can also help with improving the overall safety of your garden - light up the steps or a path to eliminate tripping hazards.
Garden Spike Lights
Garden spike lights are incredibly effective and easy to install. Most commonly, they are used to provide light on the sides of a pathway, making it safer to follow it when it gets dark. Plus, they can add some aesthetic value to your yard. Additionally, their ease of use makes them the perfect choice for those who need lights for occasional use only. LED garden spike lights can effectively light up your garden for a party or another event and then be safely stored away when you don't need them anymore.
LED Flood Lights
If you're looking for more heavy-duty lights, then LED floodlights will do the trick. They are incredibly bright with their high luminous power and optimal light distribution, while at the same time being energy-efficient to run even for more extended periods of time. So, this solution will help you to illuminate a wider area without having to worry about expensive electricity costs.
Wall lights, in the form of wall attachments, are also a popular choice for outdoor lighting. They are an excellent option for illuminating patios, entrances, driveways or for lighting up dark corners of the house and garden for improved safety. Plus, there are so many different designs of these fixtures that you are sure to find something that will perfectly suit your garden type and preferences. A well-chosen wall light may change your summer evenings outside. All you need is some free space on a wall and some wiring.
And many more...
The options above are just a brief overview of the wide range of LED outdoor lights we have available at Simple Lighting. You can also choose bulbs and fixtures of different brightness and colour temperatures, with dimmable or non-dimmable features to make sure you will achieve the desired effect in your outdoors.
The use of garden lights can drastically transform your outdoor areas, both in terms of aesthetics as well as additional benefits, such as improved safety and security. So, whether you are looking to illuminate your garden at home or your business, Simple Lighting is sure to have the perfect outdoor LED lighting fixtures and fittings to accompany your design ideas and lighting needs.
What Is the UL Rating?
Simply speaking, the UL (Underwriters Laboratories) rating refers to the amount of moisture a specific lighting fixture can withstand and where it should be located. In general, all UL-rated fixtures can be installed outdoors, but there is a more detailed distinction.
UL Damp means that an outdoor lighting fixture is well-suited for locations that are usually humid but also covered or at least partially covered. UL Wet, on the other hand, can be fully exposed to water to any extent - if you decide on a fixture with this rating, it will do well even under heavy rain or snow.
If you see a fixture rated as UL Dry, it means that it was designed for indoor use only and shouldn't be exposed to any amount of moisture.
