LED Strip Lighting Kits

An LED strip light is an all-around lighting solution that can be used in many applications. Because of its ribbon-like structure, it can be formed in various shapes and outlines. Typically, LED strip lights are low-voltage, so they require an LED driver to work.

Different types of LED drivers are available, and finding the right one for your strip lights can be challenging at times. If you end up with the wrong driver, the strip lights may flicker, not work at all, or you may overload the driver and damage both the strip lights and power supply.

What is the best solution to avoid these issues? To get an LED strip lighting kit!

Usually, a kit will include an LED tape, LED driver and an LED controller (depending on the product). You also have the option of getting an LED aluminium profile to create a more refined and finished installation!

How many 5M LED strips can you connect together?

Usually, an LED strip light kit includes a specific length of strip light and a corresponding LED driver to power it. The power supply that comes with the kit will often only be enough to power the provided strip light.

However, say you purchase a kit with a 5M LED strip. Then, you have a backup LED driver and strip light from a previous project. You can check the total load capacity of your LED drivers and the wattage per metre of the strip lights. As long as the strip lights you'll connect to the power supply do not exceed the load capacity of the driver, you can link as many as possible. Always round up the total wattage of the strip to the nearest available LED driver!

To avoid complicated computations and the risk of damaging any of the devices, it's better to choose a strip light kit. That way, everything will be compatible and will surely work together. We highly recommend selecting a strip light kit for first-time users to avoid complications with the installation!

Is it cheaper to run LED strip light kits?

Generally, LED strip light kits are more energy-efficient than conventional light fixtures, making them cheaper. Being powered by LED technology, this lighting solution can transform most of the power they consume into light, with a relatively tiny portion ending up as waste. As a result, even if you see a high lumens output on the packaging, it will not directly translate to your power consumption. The wattage requirement is way less than the brightness you can enjoy!

With strip light kits, you can immediately identify the power consumption because of the set length of the strips. With that, you can assess whether or not it will work for you. Nevertheless, LED strips are still much more affordable to run than traditional non-LED lighting fixtures!

What are LED tape kits used for?

LED tape kits are used in many ways in residential and commercial spaces. Homeowners can utilise them to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of their interiors, while business owners can employ them to boost sales and establish branding!

LED tape kits with cool white, natural white, or warm white strip lights are perfect for task or ambient lighting. The cooler shade can be attached under the kitchen cabinets to illuminate the work surfaces, making the area more comfortable and safe to use. Conversely, the warmer shade can bring a cosier atmosphere and accentuate displays and architectural features!

Commercial establishments can also benefit from cool, natural, and warm white LED tape kits. However, if you want to boost branding and captivate customers, RGB LED tape light kits can deliver what you need! Colour-changing strips create a fun and delightful environment and ensure your store's identity is adequately relayed!

What is the difference between 12v and 24v LED tape?

There are two variations of strip lights based on their input voltage: 12v DC and 24v DC. In terms of brightness, both voltages can produce the same level. Being 12v DC or 24v DC does not affect the light output of the strips. Also, a 12v DC and 24v DC strip have the same life expectancy, depending on the model and manufacturer.

When it comes to the length of the strip in series, a 24v DC strip light suffers less voltage drop and can run the longest. If a 12v DC strip has a length limit of 5 metres powered from end to end, a 24v DC strip can extended to 7 metres. If you want to run a longer strip, choose a 24v DC option.

What are the 2 types of LED light strips?

In terms of coloured LED strip lights, there are two types: fixed single-coloured and colour-changing. As the name implies, a single-coloured strip light emits only one colour, while a colour-changing strip has multiple.

If you have a specific colour in mind, like for branding purposes, a single-colour strip light can meet your lighting requirements. However, if you need a dynamic lighting system, a colour-changing option is better. Determining which type of lighting is better depends on personal preference or requirements. So, it's down to you and your needs which to choose!
