Traditional Black Outdoor Wall Lantern with PIR Sensor – 4-Sided IP43 Fitting

Imagine the look on your friends' and family's faces when they visit, and your wall lights suddenly spring to life before they could even approach the doorway and knock on your door. It'll be a mix of shock, amazement, and awe. Probably because they'll be surprised, but mostly because now your outdoors has more visibility thanks to the lights you finally installed.

That’s the kind of vibe this fitting brings. It’s designed with the classic four-sided glass, plus a built-in passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor that can detect movement at a 120-degree angle. This automatically activates lighting when motion is detected within an 8m range, which is ideal for entrance ways and paths.

The thing about anything vintage is that it lasts long enough to become vintage. How does this fare then?

This wall light doesn’t just feature a timeless design, but it’s also built to last a long time. It’s constructed with aluminium, a metal that’s known for its sturdiness and its anti-corrosive quality. This means that this will not rust or tarnish, looking exactly the same from the day you bought it, even after months/years have passed.

The clear glass panel delivers a style that’s nostalgic, especially for those who love traditional designs. But aside from style, the glass panels also add function, allowing for light to be properly distributed around the fixture. This helps illuminate your outdoors, especially the parts that people frequent.

It can’t be an outdoor light without the proper outdoor protection, will it? That’s why this lantern is rated IP43. It means it can resist water splashes and moisture, but can’t withstand strong jets of water and heavy rain. So, the best location for this light will be under covered outdoor walls and sheltered entrances or doorways.

You can not install this light out in the open! Doing so will be disastrous, both for you and this lantern. Hint: water + electricity = disaster.

What’s good with this fitting, too, is that it has a high dust and dirt ingress protection. Dust won’t build up inside the glass but outside. So, you just need to wipe the exterior surface with a damp cloth (preferably microfibre), and you’re good to go.

Now for the lights…

The lampholder supports standard Edison Screw bulbs (not included in the pack), giving you the freedom to choose the type of light you want for it. Warm, cool, dimmable, smart, it's all down to your preference.

If you want to go for the classic, nostalgic glow, then you can get incandescent bulbs for that familiar warm brilliance. Just be prepared for the energy costs. There are more energy-efficient options, though, like the LED filament bulbs: they glow almost like the traditional incandescent but with the efficiency of LED lights.

Of course, other energy-saving LED light bulbs (up to 60W) of your choice can be used with this wall light as long as they have an E27 base.

The classic design, featuring four sides with clear glass, is timeless for wall lights. This is not only for aesthetics, though. This bold design provides a multidirectional, 360-degree illumination. So, anything in front, side, and back (usually the wall, but still) of the lantern gets bright lighting, depending on the bulb you’re using.

It won’t be an understatement to say that this lantern can be a primary source of illumination for your outdoors. Combined with the motion sensor feature, this wall light becomes a major team player in keeping your outdoors safe and secure. Because nothing deters an intruder with bad intentions than getting surprised with a bright light… or a police siren, but hey, that’s another thing entirely.

This wall light is designed to run on standard 220-240V mains power. You can directly connect it to your mains circuit, and it should provide a consistent and reliable glow. There’s no need to connect this to a light switch thanks to the motion detection feature.

Installation is also very straightforward. If you have installed lighting fixtures before, there shouldn’t be any problem installing this one. If you have no experience installing lights yet, this wall light comes with instructions for installation. But it would be better to hire a certified electrician to install the lights for you.

Forget transformers and LED drivers. Those are for low-voltage lights like strips and under-cabinet lighting. This fitting is directly powered by the grid.
