When you bought an incandescent bulb you knew that a higher wattage meant a brighter light. However, wattage really measures power consumption, not brightness. Lumens measure brightness. You can use the chart below to match the wattage of an incandescent to its LED counterpart. LEDs use less power and save money.
Warm lighting is similar to conventional lighting and has a softer feel. This lighting is perfect for living rooms and bedrooms.
Daylight - The colour of the lighting is used to represent ‘daylight colour’ indoors. It has neither the softness of warm white or the starkness of cool white.
Cool white - Is a brighter whiter light and is more suited for the bathroom or kitchen.
IP65 Rating - Water-Resistant
Since this LED downlight has an IP65 rating, you can use it anywhere in your home, including water zones like the bathroom! It will not short-circuit or malfunction even if it gets exposed to jets and splashes of water. You can install it in your kitchen, dining room, living room, home office, hallways, bathroom (including zone 1), etc!
Although it is water-resistant, this LED downlight is not waterproof. So, if you want to mount lights inside your pool or in your fountain, you need to look for a fitting with an even higher IP rating. Checking the IP rating is necessary to ensure that your lights are mounted in the correct environment.
Open Can Design & Sleek Black Bezel
When you invest in creating an excellent lighting design to enhance the visuals of your space and elevate its functionality, you will naturally want it to last for years. Well, if you have this LED downlight, that is a guarantee! The open-can design of this LED downlight gives it a better cooling mechanism so the bulb can last longer.
Aside from that, this LED downlight has a sleek black bezel, which goes well with various design schemes, such as traditional, contemporary, minimalist, vintage, mid-century modern, etc. Even if this fitting is a last-minute addition to your plans, it will not look out of place and blend in effortlessly with the rest of your furniture and decor!
Stress-Free Installation
Installing this LED downlight is stress-free as long as you prepare all the needed tools and equipment ahead of time and review the product manual and mounting guidelines. It's mains powered, so you don't need to purchase a separate LED driver or transformer to make it work. You only need to wire it directly to the main power supply, add a bulb, and you are good to go!
Also, it’s designed with screwless push-fit and loop-in/out wiring terminals, enabling you to wire your lights in series. If you have never tried installing a light fixture or changing a bulb, it’s better to call an electrician instead of pushing yourself to DIY. That way, you’re confident that your lights are installed correctly, and you, your home and your fixtures are free from any hazards!
Insulation Coverable
Not all LED downlights are insulation-coverable. Therefore, unless it's specifically stated, you should not put anything over your lights. What you may think will help you lower your electricity bill and protect your home might be the cause that will lead to a much more significant expense and expose you to more danger!
This LED downlight is insulation-coverable. However, there's a condition that you need to follow strictly. You can only put insulation over your downlights if you use it with an LED lamp with a maximum power of 7w. Ensure you remain within this scope because if you go over it, you cannot put loft insulation on the rear of this downlight!
Fire-Rated to 30, 60 and 90 Minutes and Suits Solid, Web, and I-Joist Ceilings
Cutting a hole into your ceiling to mount a recessed fixture compromises its natural fire barrier. As a result, if a fire breaks out, it can easily pass through the gaps and travel across your ceiling and walls. This LED downlight can prevent that because it’s fire-rated to 30, 60, and 90 minutes of protection (solid joist ceilings). The hole you trimmed can be completely resealed, reinforcing your ceiling's fire integrity and delaying when the fire will spread. Only a fire-rated fitting can do so because they have a built-in intumescent pad that, when activated, can block even the tiniest cracks surrounding the downlight!
In addition, it's suitable for web joist and I-joist ceilings for 30 minutes of protection, which not many light fixtures can offer!
Works with a GU10 bulb
This LED downlight is constructed with a GU10 lamp holder, so you can use it with any GU10 bulb. However, since it’s a dimmable fixture, we recommend using a dimmable one and pairing it with a dimmer switch to access its dimming feature.
As for the GU10 bulb, it is available in cool white, natural white and warm white LED colours! Cool white and natural white are both suitable for task lighting. The only difference between the two LED colours is that cool white has a crisp bluish tone, while natural white has no hints of blue or yellow. On the other hand, warm white light is ideal for ambient lighting because its yellowish hue can create a relaxing atmosphere!
