LED Strip Lights

Shop LED strip lights for kitchen worktops, shelving, feature lighting and commercial projects. Choose COB tape, colour-changing strips or LED strip kits, then compare light output, voltage and control options.

We offer in-house UK cut-and-solder preparation for suitable LED strip and Neon Flex. Send us the required runs and layout so we can help confirm the strip, power supply and accessories. Maximum lengths depend on the product; contact our team before ordering a bespoke system.

Shop LED Strip Lights by Type

  • Single-colour: a fixed shade of white. Compare lumens per metre, Kelvin value and wattage; our 5W/m warm white strip is one example.
  • COB: a closely packed light source designed for a continuous appearance. Check CRI and light output on the exact model, rather than assuming every COB strip has the same specification.
  • RGB and RGBW: colour-changing strips needing compatible channel control. RGBW adds a dedicated white channel.
  • Neon Flex: an enclosed flexible lighting format. Check cutting intervals, permitted bend direction and mounting requirements.
  • Addressable: requires a compatible controller and data protocol; it is not interchangeable with ordinary analogue RGB tape.
  • Moisture-exposed locations: choose a complete installation suitable for its environment, including cut ends, connectors and driver. A strip's IP rating does not rate the whole system.

LED Strip Kits, Drivers & Controllers

Check each kit's included items. A kit does not automatically include every connector, profile or control your layout needs. For separate components, match the strip voltage and supply type, then calculate the connected load.

Our LED strip power guide explains watts per metre, total length and manufacturer loading requirements. Choose compatible LED drivers and controllers; dimming protocols and channel limits must match. An aluminium profile can provide mounting, protection and heat management where specified.

For a furniture project with the connections prepared for you, choose Lighteez LED strips with prepared plug-in leads. Each separate ordered length includes a fitted 2m Dupont lead for a compatible Lighteez furniture driver, sold separately.

Commercial and Home LED Strip Lighting

Use strips for under-cabinet lighting, display shelving, coves and architectural features. Plan each illuminated run, the gaps between runs, and access to drivers. Commercial projects may also need defined colour rendering, consistent output and control integration.

How to Choose the Right LED Strip

  • Light: compare lumens per metre, colour temperature, beam and CRI where stated.
  • Fit: check strip width, cutting interval, profile clearance and bend restrictions.
  • Power: use the specified voltage and supply type. Multiply W/m by metres, then follow driver loading and derating instructions.
  • Controls: match single-colour, tunable-white, RGB/RGBW or addressable technology to the controller.
  • Run length: follow the product limit and wiring design. Neither 12V nor 24V establishes a universal maximum length.
  • Location: confirm the suitability of every component and connection for moisture, temperature and mounting conditions.

Why Buy LED Strip Lights from Simple Lighting?

Simple Lighting has traded since 2009, supplying home and trade lighting projects. Our UK cut-and-solder service can prepare suitable strip and Neon Flex to an agreed layout, within the product's cutting intervals and run limits. The preparation is carried out in-house; this does not mean every component is manufactured in the UK.

What to Send for a Cut-and-Solder Order

  • The product or lighting effect you want, including colour and controls.
  • The length and quantity of each separate run, plus a sketch showing corners and gaps.
  • Required cable exit positions and cable lengths.
  • Where the driver can be located and how the lights will be switched.
  • Whether any part of the installation is exposed to moisture.

We will help confirm achievable lengths and the parts needed. Drivers, controllers, profiles and installation are not automatically included with cut strip. Next-day preparation may be possible depending on order size; ask our team to confirm preparation and delivery timing before arranging installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between COB and regular LED strips?

COB uses closely packed LED chips to create a more continuous appearance. Other strips use individual packages whose visibility depends on spacing, mounting and diffuser. Check CRI and output on the exact product; COB alone is not a colour-rendering specification.

Do I need a special controller for RGB LED strips?

Yes. Match the controller to the strip’s voltage, channel arrangement and current limits. RGB, RGBW, tunable-white and addressable strips have different control requirements. App or voice control is available only where the selected system supports it.

Can LED strip lights be cut to size?

Cuttable strips must be cut only at the marked intervals specified for the product. Our cut-and-solder service can prepare suitable strips to an agreed layout. Maximum lengths and achievable dimensions vary; confirm the product and each run before ordering.

What IP rating do I need for bathroom LED strips?

The required protection depends on the exact location and installation. Check strip, cut ends, connectors, controls and driver together with your electrician. An IP67 label does not by itself make a strip suitable for installation inside a bath or shower.

How do I choose between 12V and 24V LED strips?

Match the strip to the correct voltage supply and accessories. For equal power, 24V draws less current than 12V, but maximum run length and voltage drop also depend on strip design, cable and feeding arrangement. Follow the specific product limits.

Do LED strips need aluminium profiles?

Use a profile where the strip instructions require it for heat management or mounting. Profiles can also protect the strip and improve the finish. Check internal width and diffuser clearance; a standard profile does not automatically make the installation waterproof.

How long do LED strip lights typically last?

Rated lifespan and warranty vary by product. Temperature, power supply, mounting and use affect service life. Use the chosen strip’s specification rather than assuming a fixed lifespan for the whole range.

Can I connect multiple LED strip reels together?

Only within the strip’s stated run and connection limits. Add the loads for driver sizing, and check cable, connector and controller ratings as well. A larger driver does not remove voltage-drop or maximum-run restrictions.
