A fire-rated downlight like this one can do so because of its built-in intumescent pad that activates when exposed to a specific temperature. When triggered, the pad can block even the tiniest gaps where the fire can pass through.

This LED downlight is insulation coverable, but before you start laying out your insulations, there’s a condition that you need to follow strictly. You can only put insulation over your lights if you pair it with a GU10 LED bulb not exceeding a maximum of 7w of power. If you choose to use an LED bulb with a higher wattage (given that it’s still within the capacity of the downlight), you cannot put any insulation.

When you get this LED downlight, you will get a GU10 LED lamp with it. This bulb can produce 400 lumens maximum brightness and a wide 110-degree beam angle while only consuming 4.5w of power. Even if you’re using your downlight for extended hours, it will not inflate your electricity bills too much!

Aside from that, the GU10 LED bulb included with this LED downlight has a cool white light LED colour. Unlike natural white light with no hints of blue or yellow and warm white light with a yellowish shade that resembles an old incandescent bulb, cool white light has a crisp bluish tone that’s often employed for task lighting.
