Five Channels for RGB and Tunable White in One Decoder
A regular RGB decoder has three output channels for each colour (red, green, and blue), while an RGBW decoder has four channels, with an additional channel for white. But this DMX decoder features five channels, giving you complete control over both RGB colour and tunable white lighting with a single unit.
The two additional output channels from the RGB manage warm white and cool white. This allows a single decoder to run an RGB+CCT LED strip (also known as RGBWW) without an extra controller.
Bringing all five channels together makes the lighting system easier to wire and manage. This is particularly useful for installations that need both decorative colour and practical white illumination from the same LED strip.
Screw-Terminal DMX Wiring for Flexible, Connector-Free Installs
The pluggable green screw-terminal DMX input and output ports eliminate the need for complex wiring and dedicated connectors. You can connect the bare conductors of the wires directly to the decoder, making installation fast and straightforward.
The unit then becomes practical for projects where you are working with mixed cabling arrangements or integrating the decoder into an existing control system.
The removable terminals also make terminating cables quick and easy. On the other hand, the separate input and output connections also allow multiple decoders to be daisy-chained along the same DMX line. This is useful when a larger lighting scheme requires several independently controlled zones.
If your system exceeds 32 decoders or you have very long cable runs, a signal amplifier is required to maintain reliable communication with a terminal resistor at the end.
DMX512 and RDM Control with On-Unit Addressing
The decoder is great for retrofit projects because it supports standard DMX512 controls, making it compatible with any professional lighting control system that only requires one-way communication.
For newer systems, particularly on larger installations, the RDM (Remote Device Management) enables two-way communication and additional functions, such as assigning DMX addresses remotely, reducing the need to physically reach every unit. This saves considerable time during installation, since you don’t need to go to each decoder to set addresses.
But if you have a smaller setup with easy access to the decoder, or if you prefer a more direct adjustment, you can use the decoder’s built-in buttons and digital display to manually set the DMX start address.
5 Channel Constant Voltage Output
Designed for constant voltage LED products, this decoder provides five separate output channels, each rated at 4A. This way, each RGB+CCT function has its own output channels.
The unit accepts a 12V-48V DC input and can be added to lighting systems with the same constant voltage output type. This helps ensure a reliable operation and makes it easier to plan the required power capacity before the installation.
At the maximum 48V input, the decoder can provide up to 192W per channel and up to 960W total output. This high capacity makes it suitable for installations where longer lengths of compatible LED lighting need to be controlled from a single decoder.
Since it is specifically designed for constant voltage LED strips, it should not be paired with constant current systems to avoid performance and safety issues.
Flicker-Free Dimming with Selectable PWM and 16-Bit Control
The additional selectable PWM (pulse width modulation) feature allows the decoder’s frequency to be adjusted from 250Hz to 32kHz. Choosing a higher frequency can help eliminate visible flicker on camera, making this decoder a strong option for spaces where lighting may appear in photos or videos.
The decoder also offers a choice between 8-bit (256 levels) and 16-bit (65,536 levels) grey scale control. The higher levels allow for finer transitions and support smoother colour changes when dimming. Depending on the application, this wide range gives you the flexibility to produce a polished visual result.
But that’s not all! Selectable logarithmic or linear dimming curves provide further control and let you choose the lighting response that best suits your preferred effect.
Full Built-In Protection and a 5-Year Warranty
Each decoder unit comes with multiple built-in protection functions to help safeguard it from electrical damage, thereby prolonging its service life. The decoder unit is built with protection against reverse polarity, overheating, overload, and short circuits. An automatic recovery function also activates once a relevant fault condition has been resolved.
The decoder carries an IP20 rating and is intended for indoor installation. This should never be used outdoors or in areas where water jets are expected. It can operate in ambient temperatures from -30°C to +55°C.
For compliance, the unit is CE and RoHS approved to EN IEC 55015, EN IEC 61547 and EN 61347 standards. Additionally, a 5-year warranty provides long-term reassurance of the decoder’s quality and safety.
