How to create stunning TV backlight with LED strips

Create your own LED TV Backlight & be the envy of your friends in next to no time!

It’s Simple to make your own TV Backlight with LED Strip… We all know how exciting it is when you get a new video game, the first thing you can think about is playing it right away and all day long. Even when the darkness starts creeping in, you don’t want to stop that game, even though you know you should take regular breaks. However, after a while your enjoyment and comfort when playing will start to wane, this is because of eye fatigue or eye strain.

No doubt you have been watching TV and playing games in the dark for years. Then you know just how irritating it can be when your eyes become fatigued at the worst possible moment. You’ve just gotten to the biggest boss in that level, or it’s the all-important kick of the game and you just can’t get your eyes to focus on the screen.

Save your eyes and still have a stunning backlit TV

Your eyes dilate in order to regulate the amount of light that enters your eyes. However, this is assessed through the light in the entire scene not just the main light source. So when playing in the dark our eyes are attempting to adjust to the very bright TV screen in a sea of darkness; not ideal viewing conditions.

Now while you won’t go blind through eye strain it doesn’t mean you have to endure it every time you play a game. No one wants to have the ceiling light on or even a floor/table lamp, that’s only going to add screen glare to the long list of annoyances. So, defeat eye strain with bias lighting.

What is bias lighting?

Bias lighting is quite simply the lighting placed behind the screen you are viewing, in this case the TV. The lighting can raise the ambient light level in the area without shining light directly onto you or the screen. This means that backlights on your TV will diffuse the bright panel of light and make the entire scene a lot friendlier to your eyes.

How do you backlight your TV?

There are various ways to backlight a TV but the simplest, easiest and most effective way is with LED tape. To make it even easier we supply LED TV back lighting kits with everything included for easy installation.

Pick your kit

LED TV  Backlight kits come in a range of sizes, from 18 inches to 50 inches, so be sure to pick the one that’s a good fit for your television. You can choose to have 2 or 4 LED strips depending on the lighting effect you want to create. For a softer glow it is best to have 2 LED strips but for the full lighting effect we suggest to have 4 LED strips for each edge of your TV.

All kits come with everything you need to install and enjoy. This includes the LED driver with a 2m mains lead. This means that all you have to do when you want to use the LED strips is plug them in.  For those that want more control over their TV backlight we provide an optional upgrade so you can have strips that can be dimmed via remote. This means that you can control just how bright you need those LEDs in relation to the darkness in your room.

The next thing you should consider is your room’s colour scheme. TV kits are available in colours to suit most decors, including warm white, cool white and RGB. All of which will emit a relaxing luminous glow that will defend you from eye strain.

Having the RGB kit means that you can change the colour of the LED backlighting of your TV. These kits come the same as others with the option of 2 or 4 strips, but they also include a remote control to allow you to change the light colour to suit you. This means that you can alter your TV lighting to suit the game you are playing.

Fit your kit

Once you’ve got the size and colour sorted, it’s time to fit your LED strips. Installation couldn’t be easier. Simply peel off the self-adhesive strips and stick to the back of your TV in your desired positioning. Then all you have to do is plug them in when you wish to use them. It really is that easy.

With stress-free backlighting for your TV you can continue to game till the wee hours of the morning. Never let your eyes suffer again while you slay the game boss or win that important game.
