There are different LED downlights fire rated to ensure the safety of the occupants of the buildings. While purchasing ceiling lights for installation, a major factor to consider is the fire hazard that accompanies them. Normally, ceilings are carefully installed to make sure that they slow down the spreading of fire but by cutting holes into it for installing lighting fixtures you compromise the integrity of the ceiling and the fire can then accelerate the same. This hazard can be minimized by usage of LED fire rated downlights. They are made of materials that expand when exposed to fire and seal the cut-outs in the ceiling to slow spread of fire. In multi-story buildings, this can give an opportunity for evacuation of floors above the one that has caught fire.
Choosing the right LED
Lamp Base: LED fire rated downlights are available with a GU10 lamp base as well as integrated LED base. One of these lamp bases may be chosen depending on the area where these are to be installed. For installation in ceilings that have space constraints, the integrated ones are ideal as they are more compact. The LED downlights fire rated for better heat dissipation are better suited to small spaces. Besides having a well-ventilated design, some of these might even come with added heat sink to keep them cool. With a GU10 lamp base, only the bulb has to be replaced in case of failure but for integrated LEDs, the whole fixture has to be changed. However, with a higher life expectancy, the need for replacement of the integrated LED downlights fire rated for safety is low, making them just as reliable as GU10 lamp base LEDs, if not more so.
Dimmable: For establishments such as clubs, hotels, retail stores, resorts and even bars both home and commercial, there are fire rated LED downlights dimmable as and when required. Most of these come with the required equipment for controlling the intensity of lights though some models may require them to be purchased separately. This enables you to set the intensity of the light as per mood or requirement. For areas that do not have a need for fire rated LED downlights dimmable on demand, there are non-dimmable models available too.
Finishes: People want their premises to look as beautiful as possible and don’t wants to install unsightly lights that ruin its décor. This is very important, especially while choosing different lighting fixtures. LED fire rated downlights come in different types of finishes that include chrome, matt and nickel along with an option to choose between glass and acrylic. There are numerous options to suit distinct styles, personal tastes and interior designs.
LED colours: Not only are the fire rated LED downlights dimmable, there are also different light colour options available. They are available in different shades that include warm and cool tones for different ambiences.
